Venice Carnival
In 2011 we decided to visit Venice during the last week of the Venice Carnival and capture the flavour, excitement , character and colour of this well known annual even.t .
During the 10 days of the annual Venice Carnival celebrations many participants wear colourful costumes and masks.
It is customary for many of the participants to arrive in full costume early each morning in the area at the rear of the Doge's Palace overlooking the Canale di San Marco.
The colourful costumes and masks provided many photo opportunities.
The participants willingly pose individually , in pairs or in groups for the many photographers who visit Venice for the Carnival.
A number of my images were taken in the early morning with the first rays of light as a backdrop.
